December 9 Basic Principles of Ayurveda
An overview of the concepts of Ayurveda to acquaint participants with the fundamentals of the science

The theory of Five Elements: An understanding about theory of creation and five elements.

Ayurvedic Healing massage and steaming.

Ayurvedic Pharmacy: Preparation of Simple Ayurvedic herbal combinations.
 
December 10 You are what you digest
  • Concept of digestion and metabolism
  • How seven dhatus are produced through
  • metabolism and how health of dhatus are dependent on quality of food and metabolism.
  • Concept of fires and importance of digestive fire.
  • Concept of ama and role of manifestation of diseases.
  • How you can be ama free?
Ayurvedic De-stress treatment.: Shiro Abhyanga (Head massage) and Shirodhara (oil dripping treatment)

Preparation of Tridosha pacifying recipes and ama pacifying recipes

 Ayurvedic Nutrition:

  • Basic principals  of Ayurvedic nutrition.

  • Description of Taste (rasa), Qualities (gunas), Potency (virya),  Post digestive effect (vipaka), and the Unique impact (prabhava).

Description of Indian Spices

Pizhichil: Nourishing Oil bath which will nourish your body and senses

Ayurvedic Cooking: Preparation of Vata pacifying recipes.
December 12 Diet:
  • You will explore Caraka’s Principles of Eating, Concept of Jathagni
  • Ayurvedic table manners
  • Ayurvedic guidelines of eating
Dry powder massage-an effective weight reducing treatment.(Utvartan).

Ayurvedic cooking: Pitta pacifying recipes.

Ayurvedic cooking: Sattva enhancing recipes.
 

December 13 Concept of vegetarianism and importance of sattvic foods for enhancing sattva.

 

Netra vasti: Relaxing treatment on the eyes and surrounding tissues. Also relaxes the brain.

Ayurvedic cooking: Preparation of Kapha pacifying recipes.

9:30 am to 11 am Theory class
11 am to 1 pm Practical class
1 to 2 pm Lunch and Rest
2 pm to 3 pm Practical/Theory class
3 pm to 5 pm Practical class
