Parent
Workshops
March 30, 2008
Steven Rudolph has completed a number of successful
workshops for parents in the Delhi area. These include DLF
School (Sahibabad), the Maxfort School (Dwarka) and Happy
English Public School (Rishabh Vihar). In the seminars Mr.
Rudolph discussed his Laws of Learning for parents. First,
he provided practical advice on how to identify the nature
of a child through Multiple Intelligences and Ayurvedic body
typing, and explained how such tools enable parents to
create a successful life-path for their children. Success
comes, he stated, by involving children in activities
according to their intelligence types (e.g., linguistic,
logical, musical, visual, bodily, interpersonal,
intrapersonal and naturalistic), and by ensuring they eat
diets according to their 'doshas' (i.e., vata,
pitta, kapha). He then explained how spending
quality time with kids makes a significant impact on their
lives. For this he demonstrated how to connect with children
who seem distant by making more meaningful conversations
that engage the brain and the child's emotions.

India’s First Battle of the Brains
56 Students Go Head to Head in Multiple
Intelligence Competition
Feb 12, 2008
56 students from all
over India competed in the 2nd Annual Multiple Intelligences
Kids Challenge at the Air Force Auditorium in New Delhi. The
event, promoted by Primary Plus and Jiva Education,
challenged these contestants ages 7-12 to demonstrate not
“how smart they are”, but “how they are smart” through a
series of complex mental and physical activities.

The participants were
selected from over 10,000 children in 15 cities, including
Delhi, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Varanasi. In a
series of elimination rounds, these 56 children were chosen
for the final competition, in which required to demonstrate
their abilities through two key tasks. The first was a
project that required them to make their own imaginary
country, complete with national flag, currency, national
animal, duties and rights, and even national anthem set to
their own original music. Students also showed off their
skills in individual and group performances that included
singing, dancing, acting, and so on.

Lakhs of prizes were
given away by sponsors, with each participant receiving a
bicycle from Firefox Bikes, and educational puzzles from Dr.
Wood Games of Australia. Five top winners who were selected
from the group were awarded with a trip to Malaysia
sponsored by Tourism Malaysia and JK Paper.

The event was a
star-studded affair, hosted by ghazal diva Penaz Masani and
American educator Steven Rudolph, Director Jiva, both of
them entertained the audience with original songs written
just for the occasion. Making a special appearance was pop
singer Shabani Kashyap, who after a high power performance,
declared she would feature the winning students in her next
music video. Gurupal Singh, the comedic veteran of Chupa
Rustam fame, took up the task of interviewing 15
semi-finalists, posing them with challenging and often
humourous questions. This was followed by a comedy routine
delivered by the famous ventriloquist-dummy duo Raja and
Rancho.

Mr. Rudolph stated,
“After Taare Zameen Par, people have begun more actively
searching for genuine solutions to India’s “rata rata”
dilemma. The MI Kids Challenge is a practical way to do
that, by building build all the intelligences—logical,
linguistic, bodily, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal,
visual, and naturalistic. When they are all working
together, the result is “Chak De Brain”.
MI in
action at Jiva
January 29, 2008
It was an opportunity of a lifetime for around three hundred
students of various schools from Faridabad who participated
in one-of-a-kind educational event. The MI Kids Challenge
provided them with a full day 'masti' as they learned about
the different ways they are smart.
Multiple Intelligences (MI) is a concept that explains how
each individual has different types of intelligences–
Logical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Musical, Bodily,
Linguistic, Visual and Naturalistic. The children took part
in 8 different activities that focused on each one of these
areas. This enabled them to see how individuals are
multi-faceted, and how they could have fun while learning.
They also got to know how different careers are more
suitable for people with strengths in different types of
intelligences.

The occasion started with
the chanting of prayers in Sanskrit and a ceremonial
lighting of the lamp. Graced by MCF Commissioner Mr. R.K.
Khullar, it was an engaging event. Afterwards, the
participants enjoyed an entertaining show by the comic
duo--Raja and Rancho.
Jiva Educational Director, Mr. Steven Rudolph, a pioneer in
the field of learning, encouraged the children to take the
day long camp as an opportunity to enjoy themselves, see how
smart they are and express themselves. He gave a notable
speech that praised Mr. Khullar for his recently released
book 'Viral Match', an educative novel about AIDS. He also
performed a song that he composed in Hindi. Mr. Rudolph
rightly quoted the camp as a 'mela for the mind'.
Jiva President Sh. Rishi Pal Chauhan appreciated Mr. Manbir
Bedi (Director,
Primary Plus) for taking the initiative to organise the event. He explained how events like this
contribute to the education process of the country and help
it grow to its potential.
